Ocak tells the story of a family who earns their livelihood as hazelnut cultivators in rural north-eastern Turkey. It is an intimate depiction of the relationships among the members of a family and the local social life. While exploring peoples’ connection to the hazelnut gardens, the film also reflects on labor, gender and generational differences. Ocak asks questions about the hearth, land and family and invites the viewers to embark upon a personal journey through the story of this family.
