PhD Opportunity: Unseen Worlds

This interdisciplinary PhD project, named Unseen Worlds – Creative Approaches to Living with MND, invites applicants to explore the inner lifeworlds of individuals living with Motor Neurone Disease through innovative ethnographic, participatory, and co-creative methods. Working alongside people with MND, the researcher will co-create artistic outputs—such as theatre, animation, film, or music—to enhance personal expression and creative inclusion, transforming quality of life through creative activity.

Embedded within the Wellcome Trust-funded Co-Creative MiND project (2025–2030), the successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary and creative team led by Professor Andrew Irving, Professor James Thompson, and Dr. Michael Atkins, with expertise spanning medical anthropology, applied theatre, and performance art.

Deadline on 14 November 2025.
