In what ways do people come together to forge meaning, sustain connection, and foster a sense of belonging? How’s agency expressed amid times of uncertainty? And what does it mean to be at home in a precarious diasporic context?

Shai Laban explores these questions through a small community of Sudanese students as they navigate university life in Manchester. The film invites the viewer into a small world inhabited by gatherings, companionship, and shared practices, unveiling intimate aspects of the migratory experience and offering a glimpse into the complex, often concealed, politics of belonging.

Against a backdrop of a homeland grappling with a forgotten crisis, Shai Laban highlights a journey of collective resilience, defiance, and remembrance.
