This interdisciplinary PhD project invites applicants to explore the inner lifeworlds of individuals living with Motor Neurone Disease through innovative ethnographic, participatory, and co-creative methods.

Our visual anthropology cohort from 2023-2024 will be presenting their graduation works on 25 and 26 October. The event will include film screenings in blocks of three followed by a brief Q&A, alongside installations and exhibitions.
This year's MA Visual Anthropology Film Screenings will take place on October the 21st and 22nd at Submerged Spaces in Manchester. Titled 'The Unfamiliar Everyday', the showcase will feature 24 film projects on themes such as migration, dance, identity, climate change, grief, and much more.
This year's MA Visual Anthropology Exhibition and Film Screenings will take place on October the 22nd and 23rd at 1520 Studios in Manchester. Titled 'Virtual Insanity', the showcase will feature 17 media projects including film, sound, photography and more, produced at the end of academic year 2020-21.
Two of our PhD in Social Anthropology with Visual Media students, with support from AHRC, are co-organising the Visual Research Network 1st International Conference and residency entitled ‘Creative Image; Ways of seeing, representing and reshaping reality’.
Graduation is approaching for our MA Visual Anthropology students. Join us at Leaf on Portland Street in central Manchester on October 21st and 22nd 2017 to experience the work they completed during the summer. Films and exhibitions will be on display with free entrance, including Q&As with the authors.
On Wednesday 8 March 2017 Roger Canals, visual anthropologist at the University of Barcelona, will present his latest documentary on the transnational cult of María Lionza in Barcelona. The screening will start at 5pm in room G7, Humanities Bridgeford Building, Oxford Road M13 9PL, and will be followed by Q&A with the director. The project is funded by the Wenner-Gren Foundation Fejos Fellowship.
